It seems rather trivial to be posting about my 25th wedding anniversary straight after my post regarding the sad news of Debbie Faris Bryant, but I am sure she would say - you go girl.
On the 19th of August hubby and I celebrated our silver wedding, if we are honest we started celebrating on the 16th of August and went right through to the 31st of August, having a fortnight away from our business for the first time in 25 years!
It was truly wonderful for us both, we started with a few days away in the camper van on the Purbecks with my sister and her husband, coming back on our anniversary and having dinner at the Castleman at Chettle which was beautiful. We had a mention on Radio 2, Steve Wright Sunday Love Songs on the Sunday 17th and were given the chocolates and flowers which was very nice. We also had a mention on the day 19th on the Ken Bruce show, again Radio 2 during his love song slot. I had put over 100 songs on my ipod which brought back happy memories of the last 25 years which we listened to during the fortnight.
Apart from the trip away the rest of the things were surprises which I put into different envelopes for dear hubby to open. We loved them all, we did clay pigeon shooting, visited Kingston Lacy, had dinner on the Swanage Steam Railway, afternoon tea at the Chewton Glen, lunch with my Dad, an afternoon with Phillip's Mum and Dad, a day fishing at Shearwater, lunch at the golf club, lots of lovely walks and too much food. We went to No. 9 in Wimborne for a pre theatre dinner and then went and saw a tribute to Roy Orbison (love Roy), a guy called Barry Steele, he was incredible, in fact the whole show was, there was an Elvis, a Jerry Lee Lewis and a Dusty Springfield. Roy (Barry) dedicated a song to us too which I had requested prior to the evening AND they came front of house so had my photos taken with Roy and Elvis. It was fabulous. We have made some wonderful memories and really celebrated in style.
Funnily enough we both bought watches for each other, what better way to mark time than with time, my watch is beautiful, he picked it himself which is most unusual usually he would take me to the jewellers but he should be really pleased with himself at it's gorgeous and I love it.
Our village has a fish and chip night on the last Friday of the month so we celebrated in style by taking home made dessert and home made fruit cake marzipaned and iced with some fizzy bubbles, it was lovely there were 37 of our neighbours there and it was truly memorable.
We had some wonderful cards and gifts, a gorgeous card from Linda Harris just beautifully hand made and a simply divine box frame which a hand crafted piece inside from Jo Dumbleton and a gorgeous card too. We were so fortunate to be remembered by so many of our friends and family. We feel truly blessed and thankful.
So 25 years have flown by it seems in a blink. The card I made from Phillip is below.
